Default 29th year anniversary for Pete Rose Affinity?

On this date in 1978, the Cincinnati Reds played the Atlanta Braves at Fulton County Stadium. Pitching for the Reds that day was Tom Seaver, multi-Cy Young award winner.

Zachary, was it this game that you went to? Also, what are the exact words in the song...

"...I went to the dugout to ask for Pete Rose, but instead I got the autograph of some ???average???relief pitcher? But one day, he became the Cy Young winner to my ?luck?"

If this is a true story, I don't think Tom Seaver was the guy, because he didn't "one day" become a Cy Young winner. He had already won several at that point. I looked at the rosters for the late 1970s Reds and I don't see anyone else it could be. Mario Soto almost won the CYA twice. Maybe it was a Brave?

I'd still like to know what the lyrics say in this song.

Clemency is my favorite Hymns album, closely followed by Voice B/S. You know, I just figured out yesterday, quite by accident, that the song "New Underdressment" from Voice B/S actually contains a lyrical snippet from ELO's "Sweet Talkin' Woman."

Ok, I think I finally figured it out. In 1983, the Phillies had Pete Rose and a relief pitcher by the name of Willie Hernandez. Hernandez would win the Cy Young award the next year in the American League for the Detroit Tigers. I am about 95% sure that Zachary got Willie Hernandez's autograph instead of Pete Rose's. It's been 9 years since that first post, and I *still* can't understand the lyric.

In other news, I heard SH has been playing shows in Athens lately. Let's hope for another Clemency.
