View Full Version : looking for 1st symphony vinyl!!

well i think this is a long shot, as anybody reading a Music Tapes forum would probably cherish their copy.... but does anyone have a vinyl copy of the 1st symphony that they are looking to sell? or do you know of a copy somewhere on the internets? i look on ebay from time to time, but is there a better way? i check in every record store i go to only to be heartbroken.

another question, just curious: was there a small number of original pressings, or was it pretty substantial? thank you kind folks.

I just asked the label how many they pressed. Hopefully they'll get back to us.

Looks like they did 1500 copies on vinyl.

From a Merge rep
hmmm....that was so long ago. My memory is fuzzy.
You should take anything I say in this realm with a grain of salt.
I'm the publicist, not the production manager. All I can do is make educated guesses.

Are you asking how many we pressed on vinyl?
I don't know for sure, but vinyl pressings usually run in the 1000-1500 range.
Maybe more, but I sort of doubt it. Those things were expensive to make if memory serves.

As far as how many CDs we have pressed, total?...if that was what you were asking...geez I have no idea. Sorry.

I pass the buck to Spott, if he wants to chime in...

i was pretty cozy, sitting on the highest bid of this auction in the beginning, and then by the end...

$51 !?!? seriously? is this how much i should be willing to pay for a vinyl copy? this seems way high to me... guh.

they should press some more copies :) i don't give a shit if it's rare, i just want to listen to it on my god damn record player. haha. man... 51 bucks...

i think its cheaper on that website i put up here

A few bucks more actually, but it can definitely be gotten more cheaply.

umm, i just won an auction for the vinyl that ended at $6.05... that's a bit more reasonable than $51 :)

rogersbowne, that site wasn't working for me before but now it is... looks like a pretty cool site.
