oh, man that's awesome. we got there during Du i think because Good had moved since we were there last so we passed the new one because it wasn't the physical place we remembered. he must not have started at 3 though, because i think it was 3:40 or so when we got there.

does this mean you snagged the show, too? i messed up and stood too close to the left monitor - i thought almost at the bar was far enough away, but my ears are messed up today.

i liked this acoustic show then the one that was in eugene. kevin kinda sounded like he had been crying all day for that one. plus this one he played "i will" which is pretty much the best beatles song of all time.

i am gonna look into seeing if any indie show will have him play there. because damn. that would be greeeeaaattt.

It's quite heartening to know that Kevin isn't much better at singing half-asleep than I am!

Does anyone know of any indie record stores in south central Pennsylvania, around Harrisburg? I really don't think there are any but just checking.

Just to clear things up: I didn't record it. Someone emailed me today about it and I provided the link. I think that was somewhat clear, but just wanted to be sure that it didn't look like I was trying to take credit for someone else's work!

The closest I know to you are the Record Connection in Lancaster (right by Green Dragon) which has a lot of great old vinyl, but not any new stuff at least that you or I would be interested in. The best indie store is even further away, but in Kutztown try Youngones you can even find some Elephant 6 related items there. I finally picked up Tone Soul Evolution there.

No worries--it's still great!

Someone tabbed out how Kevin played "Lysergic", and I've been trying for awhile to figure out "Forecast" (hey, just knowing the intro ain't bad ;) )

Oh thanks! I'll have to check out Youngones sometime even though it's like 45 minutes away. That's not too bad...

Thanks lou2ser for posting these links in another thread, I hadn't taken from what I skimmed through in this thread that the actual Dallas show had been recorded as well:

Acoustic Instore: http://www.lullabyes.net/blog/2007/02/kevin-barnes-of-montreal-021807.html

Full Band: http://www.lullabyes.net/blog/2007/02/of-montreal-021807.html

Very interesting about the drum jam - it's the exact same beat as the one from San Antonio, but in the SA, BP (i think) starts it off with some very fugazi-like riffing and there's more synth drum interplay between Jamey and Dottie (i think), whereas in the Dallas the guitar is mostly noodling and then it is no doubt Jamey who turns the drum effects on overdrive.

I definitely like this improv off the beat - I think they should have an array of different beats to choose from and make improving off of them a regular concert feature!
