i was just wondering after considering his close friendship with j. cameron mitchell, the homoerotic overtones of the 2nd symphony, lack of female subjects in music tapes lyrics, etc.

though if anything he seems to not be so interested in sex or related things ("hand holding is near sacred" and so on) - a genius committed totally to art like sun ra or something.

i guess he could answer himself because he posts here....

In an of Montreal song (actually a personalized Zombies cover), they list a bunch of Elephant 6 couples, including Jeff Mangum and Laura Carter. One of the couples is Julian and Robbie, who one would assume is Julian Koster and Robbie Cucchiaro. So, yeah, take what you will from that.

this thread is sort of really unnecessary.

While we're on a topic that is nosy and unnecessary, have you heard Britney and Paris are no longer friends? Also, Britney says her resolution for 2007 is to take more time for her. Because, you know, she doesn't have two kids. Oh, wait, yes she does, poor things. If you don't have nature or nurture in your favor, what have you got? Dumb luck? I also heard J. D. Salinger was interested in Scientology for a short time, but I don't think it made any tabloid covers.

But seriously folks, understanding an artist can be key to understanding their art, so maybe a discussion like this isn't completely ridiculous. Then again, sexuality isn't an issue ever approached in The Music Tapes, so perhaps it is an unnecessary thing to discuss. Hmmm, have we ever discussed discussions before?

it's a fair question. the fact that you say this is more offensive, as it insinuates that there is something wrong with it.

agreed, if you really knew if he was or not it might change the way the songs feel. i think its better to not know the musician that way the songs stay mystical and not literal.
