I really like Clemency. I know that's an unpopular opinion...but I do. So there.

Is it their best? I dunno.

I like the new one more and more each day but the first one is still my favorite.I think "voice brother and sister" wins for the time being.

lately I'm thinking it's Celebratory Arm Gesture, followed by Voice Brother and Sister, then Fools Gold then Clemency...but in the end I just think Summer Hymns is the bees knees.

In order from best to third best,

Voice Brother Sister
A Celebratory Arm Gesture

The new album is just slightly weaker than the first, and ACAG is not a weak album, but clearly not as good as the other two.

For some reason, that new EP "Fool's Gold" is my favorite thing that they've done. A real watery psychedelic feel and a great sound! That last album "Clemency" was a little too stripped down for me, even though I enjoyed those songs when I saw them live.

Wait, I take that back, I hadn't listened to it in a while, but I put "Clemency" on and it is quite pleasant. The new EP is really great though.

Voice Brother And Sister is especially effective while orbiting a lake in the mountains, all the way through to the end of a summertime sunset.

But that banjo-loop song (sorry I forget the name) on Celebratory Arm Gesture has in the past redeemed many an average moment of everyday life... when it hits.

Clemency makes me think I haven`t seen enough cowboy movies...

This is a fantastic fantastic fantastic band.

Clemency makes me think I haven`t seen enough cowboy movies...

The dialogue in Clemency is actually from the 1970 Mexican surrealist film El Topo, which is where my username is from. It's kind of a Western...if Westerns had a Buddhist sensibility, dealt with reincarnation and mythology and satire and other things of that nature. The artwork on the album is also from the film, and the liner notes thank the director, Alejandro Jodorowsky, although I think they misspell his name. I met Jodorowsky last year, and he said the film should finally be released sometime soon (the rights were being withheld by the Beatles producer Allen Klein--John Lennon was a fan of the film and asked Klein to acquire it--just because he had a spat with Jodo, but now they're friends).
So, um, yeah...I like Clemency too.
