I'm 14 years old, I'm from Maryland. I don't know what I'm doing. I spend all my time listening to music, and imagining about what I could do if I could make music. Music, music, music. Besides that the rest of my life is made up of akward silence. I am happy, but not content. My obsessions include Neutral Milk Hotel, and Piglets. I am socially inept, and spend all day on the Internet with headphones on while being homeschooled. All I need is one true friend, I want total peace of mind to leave the hurting world behind, I’m not scared; I swear I’m free.

Typewriters, look for the threads 'getting to know you getting to know all about you' and 'a topic for us.' You might not learn quite *everything*; this is the internet after all. For instance, though William may say he's 14 and from Maryland, I have inside information that he's really a 63-year old female bank president from Ulan Bator. Also, opopopo is really Mick Jagger.

im too lazy to look for those threads. bringing up old threads is lame too.

Since we already had 2 of these threads, one more wouldn't hurt.

I'm a 27 year old married chemist from Chattanooga Tn. I am an obsessed music freak, and I like to frolick throughout the fields and dance...

I really do like to dance.. although I am not very good at it... I dance better when I've been drinking, well, at least I think so anyway.. ;)

i am 18. i live in hoffman estates, a suburb of chicago. i am in my first year of a two-year junior college and will transfer to a university after that. i'm thinking of majoring in secondary education of political/social science, not for sure yet, though. i also work part-time at an osco drug =/

i've been reading all of chuck palahniuk's books lately and i love music. i attempt to play it poorly, i have a pretty nice tacoma acoustic guitar and a yamaha keyboard, but no band to contribute to.

that's all i can think of for now.

I'm Sarahe, 17 and I live in Lewiston, NY. I have this longing to seek out answers to all my questions = love to learn. sadly I don't know if I just love to learn or if my love of learning came about from my need to know everything...

i get tremendous happiness from being able to lie down in my room and listen to music or jump around if it's happy dance music etc. for that reason I spend a lot of my money on records.

i love languages too.

and i'm in the grueling process of applying to colleges. i plan to double major in theatre and environmental science with a minor in either architecture or photography.

typewriters--

I would be glad to help you in any way I can with chemistry... I graduated with a BS in Chemistry in 1999.. It was the toughest thing I have ever done. The main reason why I picked chemistry was for the challenge. I like a good challenge, and hey the sciences are fun. I like that you are going to Pharmacy school.. that's where you can make the big bucks! :)

ladylamenting is correct, i am indeed Mick Jagger.

lets see... i love chewable vitamin C, i use way way way too much shampoo (i currently have eight bottles on the go), i have trouble sleeping, but incredibly intracate dreams, im rather disorganized, i prefer chunky peanut butter to its smooth brother, i really dont like the ugly mouse pad i have here, i recycle, i compost, i enjoy drinking water, and i think im going to make myself spaghetti for lunch.

I would suggest NOT taking the AP test unless you want to jump straight into Organic Chemistry as a Freshman. College chemistry of any kind is a different ballgame. But hey, up to you.

I had a dream last night that Lemony Snicket gave me a grilled cheese sandwich. I went to see him this morning at the (gasp) Mall of America but he did nothing of the sort. He did play the accordion though.

I live in Minneapolis and just returned home from a party, where I drank some very nice Spanish wine. I will turn 23 on November 18 (take note!) I rode my bike carrying flowers down a very large street today. I like chemistry too, but I'm an *historian* of science, so I couldn't help anyone pass a test though I could tell you about alchemy.

The AP chemistry test was impossible if I remember correctly. We covered stuff we never ever went through in high school. Organic chemistry is the weed out class where I went to college. It would be awful to just jump right in. Also, if you skip your gen chem classes you will miss tons of concepts that you will never get from a high school chemistry class and you will need those concepts for inorganic chemistry which is from hell....

while i think i will do horribly i would still like to take the AP test. this of course doesn't mean if i do well i will bump up to organic chemistry. i would still take all of the classes (easy A?) and work my way up. but i've heard the AP test is insane and probably a longshot for me.

It is insane, of course that has been about 9 years ago when I took the AP chem test.

Good luck in your quest for scientific knowledge! I think scientists are the coolest people on earth! Well, second only to musicians!

My name is Jared as you could have guessed. I am 21 years old and attend Central Michigan University where I study English and Art. I hope to one day teach high school kids. I play instruments (drums, keys, and a bit of guitar) in my spare time (I'm not very good-some might even call it noise). I like music, independent comics, movies, writing, books, wit, coffee, and having a good time.

I'm 24 and I'm from Bellingham, WA. Sometimes I'm the tallest girl in this town, but then someone from the university will recruit a giant and then I'm the 2nd tallest. I like the competition so it's okay. My favorite bands are Quasi and Death Cab but the Minders are slowly working their way up (haven't acquired all of their stuff yet). I am looking forward to the new Belle & Sebastian album tomorrow, as well as the new DCFC. Should be a good day. HOoray for Tuesday :)

i'm 17; i graduated high school when i was 16, but decided to stay home the first year to save lots of money. this weekend my cousin and i went to boston to scout out transfer schools for me (read: 3-day shopping excursion). i broke a boy's heart that i like very, very much in september, and every day i find myself wondering after him. i like boston but i think i would miss trees too much to go to school there..there is no quiet in boston, and no woods to read in.
lately i either feel that i am sunbursting all over myself with joy and love and hope, or i am being thoroughly stabbed in small dark secret places everyplace i go. i think it is the seasons. i wish there was someone else who felt this way to tell me their own sorrows so i wouldn't think about mine.
autumn is stunningly beautiful, but there used to be much more than this, it seems.

I'll provide porn and cigarrettes for those who need them in a little less than a month.
For the first time in my life I'm having difficulty sleeping (partially the fault of these blankety-blank SAT IIs I'll be taking Saturday).
I've been writing songs and recording with hopefully mounting proficiency since about 8th grade. Hopefully the record that I'm working on with another member of this board (Aiwa something, she's more talented than I, lives about 8 hours away) will finally validate my so far vapid existence. Hopefully you can hear it some day.
I've learned recently to hate admission essays.

Charlie, I am SOOOOO exited to record in Fargo next week! And what's this bull about me being more talented? Let's not get into this arguement again!

I'm Marie, I'm 18, I am living (or residing, at least) in Williston, North Dakota. And I'm in a band with Charlie. ^_^
I think we should post some music online soon....

You know that's not a bad idea. It could be our gimmick... And we could sell the albums to chemistry classes so they could learn by listening to our songs...

Hmmmmm.... We could sell 10's of these records!

obviously you two would have to learn a little keyboard and cover 'the sun is a mass of incadescent gas'! it would be beautiful!

p.s.- the chemistry AP exam is do-able if you study a whole lot :) i just forsook it and threw all my energy into getting a 5 on the english. but if you tried you could definitely get that.

i'm 16 and i live in miami, fl. i have agirlfriend. i'm only a junior in highschool so i dont have to worry about sat's until the end of the year and i'm glad about that. i kind of want to get out of here so i'll probobly go to college in one of the southern states that are still at least north of florida. i need to get into an american community. this melting pot of a latin community that i live in is great but i'd like to see something different. i'm of cuban decent so i dont have anything against latin people, i love them. but i want out. yeah. i'm in a band too, we're not too great but oh well http://anoccurance.tripod.com blahlalalala

right now i go to adelphi university, which i like, but i know it's not the best education i can get. i just wanted to save as much money as possible my first year, so i only applied locally. so right now i'm muddling through transfer apps and admissions essays (like yourself)..again. what a miserable process! i'm trying for NYU, but they're crazy hella difficult to get into, a'course. otherwise it's probably BU, emerson, eugene lang, hampsire or marlboro - depends on the money offers. i'm a happy nerdy english major :) do you know what you want to do/where to go?

Well, seeing as I'm a new member this seems to be an appropriate thing to do.

My name is Jeremy, I am 16 years of age and live in California. I'm graduating high school this december, and will probably attend a local film school soon after. I have labeled myself as a circumstancial perfectionist. Insomnia was the greatest thing to ever happen to me as I love having hours of extra time each day to, well, do things.

I enjoy writing (poems, lyrics, prose, hypothesies, theories, etc.), drawing (pixeling, hand, CG, et.), playing my guitar, programming, talking/hanging out with people who aren't idiots, and just staying busy with whichever hobbies appeal to me at the time. I'm a bit eccentric as well, heh.

An actor would be my most-sought after occupation, though there are several things that interest me.

I'm considering 10 schools(listed in no particular order): middlebury, bowdoin, williams, smith, wellesley, swarthmore, oberling, carleton, macalester, and pomona.

currently my plans are to double major in environmental science and theatre.

english major...I took the best english class this summer. it was about the modernists.

i forgot to welcome our new member...WELCOME!! What part of cali do you live in? I was born in Long Beach and my estranged father lives in LA.

I wish I had insomnia. I love using all available time. Sleeping, in my opinion, wastes time. The only exception are the nights one has amazing dreams.

Indeed:

"Sleep is a waste of time." -L. DaVinci

That may or may not be verbatim, but either way I totally believe in this, and if he hadn't said it before, I would have, heh.

Anyway, I'm in Citrus Heights (a suburb of Sacramento). Thank you for the welcome.

Can I offer a bit of advice for you future college students?

Pick a school that fits you. Pick one where the classes aren't going to be so large that you won't know your professors. And definetly make the most of where you end up.

College is a beautiful experience. It was fun and I learned so much..

i'm actually applying to 3 of those! (obie-carl-mac) but those are the ones i'm least optimistic about scholarships. macalester, i think, doesn't even offer ANY merit aid.
we're all about merit aid over here :( it hurts to be white and middle class. you must be very smart indeed, swarthmore's really up there..

My name is really justin. I'm 21. I live in sunny Toledo Ohio. This is only my 3rd post.

I just got married to my high-school sweet-heart last June. We're very happy.

I play the mandolin well, the guitar sub-par, and everything else poorly. No one wants to play with me. I can't write songs myself.

I'm a Baptist.

I like Of Montreal, Neutral Milk Hotel, Danielson Familie, Polyphonic Spree, the Beatles, The Pink Floyd (with the "The"), TMBG, and old-tyme and celtic music.

I go to the University of Toledo where I'm an English-Education major. I want to get my PhD. in Philosophy and teach at a University some day.

I wrote way too much. Sorry. Nobody is reading at this stage in the game anyway. Pleasure to meet you all.:)
