Perhaps this is a bit presumptuous, considering I'm just getting deep into E6 now, but I need a rough idea of the essentials of the 'collective listening. So have at it!

My rough list of 5 based on what I've heard so far:

(in no particular order)
1. Neutral Milk Hotel - In An Aeroplane Over The Sea
2. Olivia Tremor Control - Black Foliage
3. Of Montreal - Early 4 track Recordings
4. Elf Power - A Dream In Sound
5. Of Montreal - Coquelicot....

i personally think that the ladybug transistor album "albemarle sound" was over looked by everyone. I think its one of the best e6 type albums to come out. the way it's recorded and sounds is out-standing, and the songs are top notch!

Yay! Top 10 lists!
Well, at least this one is slightly easier than naming my top ten favorite movies. Except for these first two, so I'm just going to say that they're tied...

[I'm cheating and limiting myself to one album by each artist. I want to give each band its due (and I'm still leaving some out...!)]

1) Dusk at Cubist Castle (Olivia Tremor Control)
1) In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel)
3) The Albemarle Sound (Ladybug Transistor)
4) The Long Goodbye (Essex Green)
5) Dressy Bessy (Dressy Bessy)
6) Discovery of a World Inside the Moone (Apples in Stereo)
7) Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies... (Of Montreal)
8) The Winter is Coming (Elf Power)
9) The 1st Imaginary Symphony for Nomad (Music Tapes)
10) When Your Heartstrings Break (Beulah)

Nersandgel: sorry I didn't include Circulatory System; I love that album very much...

I'm not even going to attempt this one, but I noticed a number of people have the Marbles album Pyramid Landing on their lists and I don't know a thing about that band or album.
