Just saw the Minders last night at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. The touring band is really tight, although Rebecca's not on this tour (the only disappointment). The songs from the new album sound fantastic. They did an extended psychedelic jam in the middle of 357. Let me just say WOW. Never seen the Minders pull anything like that before. Their cover of Lucifer Sam didn't hurt, either.

See them!

Uhhh...I was having too much fun. I always start out thinking "I can remember what they played in the order they played it!" but in the end I never do.

My girlfriend (their former booking agent) says "why don't you put on a show?"

Other tracks they played were: Neil Young's Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, Hooray For Tuesday, Yeah Yeah Yeah, Don't You Stop, and more I can't remember.

I so agree. Live, it completely rocked, especially the Badfinger bridge!

pfef, were you the guy with the e6 shirt?
Nope, though I had one on in my heart! I was wearing a jean jacket with a Who button.

They played an interesting show last night in Austin that'll I'll be writing up sometime next week. Houston's Spain Colored Orange, The Kingdom, and Austin's own The Channel opened for the band in what was a very unique if not super-odd show.

Crazy dancing, falling mic stands, posterboard and Neil Young cover songs are just the beginning of the story.

They closed with "Hooray for Tuesday," how fucking cool is that?

I was out in Dallas this week for work, my corporate office is out here. So it just worked out. It was a last minute trip so no time to announce it, I called Martyn at 6pm and let him know that day.

Houston show was kinda dissapointing. The Minders ended up opening for a local band, which was odd. It was a real short set, but I caught two more videos. I'll post them later.

Neil Young's "Everybody knows this is Nowhere": http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8297245794692252354

EDIT: They are much better live than the video's show. The little mic on my digital camera has a heart attack during shows. In other words, don't let the videos turn you off seeing them live.

They were great last night in Atlanta! Unfortunately the crowd was really small, but everyone there was really into the show. Got a nice recording, which I'll share soon.

thepfef covered a lot of the highlights of the show. It sounds as if the Chicago set was very similar to what has been mentioned. It doesn't matter!!! The Minders simply know how to rock. They are "tight" and consistent every time I see them play. The absence of Rebecca does suck a bit, but "the tight backing band" consists of Zach Okun (***Antlerand***) (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=14744149) and Marc Willhite (AKA Marc Blanket form ***Electric Blankets*** (http://www.rbarlow.net/electricblankets.html) ) former Bass player for The Minders. Both Talented musicains a side from The Minders (Click the band names mentioned to see what I am talking about.) No encore was played but I must reiterate how Grate the Lucifer Sam cover was. It made up for to me.

In addition to their playing, all the members are humble......after their drive from Nebraska to Chicago, the whole set, and taking down their equipment, the band had enough energy to talk to my friends and I after the show for a good half hour. It really doesn't get any better than that in my opinion. I don't understand why there is such a lack of support for this band (At least in Chicago.)

They have plenty of shows left to see moving east, then back west (CO/UT) *Click*. (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=78568814)
See them, support them, it is worth every penny.

Fare Thee Well,

DRG
