Hello! I'm going out west this month! I'm spending a few days in Seattle, a week in Port Angeles (most of which in the mountains), a few more days in Seattle, and I have a 2.5 hour layover in Portland on the way back. I'd love to see anyone and everyone and be told of interesting things to do or see (and I would especially relish any company or suggestions for what to do while waiting for my train in PDX on August 21). Thanks, friends.

Ooh. I'd love to see Phil in his home environment, but I think I'll still be out hiking. How far do you think it is from PA to Anacortes?

It's a shame you only have a few hours in Portland, as this city is better than Seattle in my opinion (and I live in WA). If you only have a few hrs, I suggest heading to Powell's books on Burnside (I think it's one of the largest independent bookstores in our country, if not The largest). On the same street is Everyday Music and Jackpot Records.

In Seattle, make sure you check out any of the 3 Sonic Boom record stores (Capitol Hill, Fremont, and Ballard). Also check out the Everyday Music on Broadway (as well as other shops on Broadway). Make sure you eat at Bimbo's B!tchin Burrito Kitchen on Capitol Hill and have a drink at either the Cha Cha or Linda's. If you are a fan of either 764-HERO or Carissa's Wierd, then you'll appreciate the Cha Cha and Bimbo's because some of those peeps work there. The Cha Cha can be hipster-central though, so if that bothers you, Linda's is a better choice just up the street.

If you don't have a place to crash at in Seattle, check ou the Green Tortoise on 2nd Ave. It's right by the Showbox and Pike Place Market. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

Cool, I was just in Fremont enjoying some Coldstone icecream and Sonic Boom.

Quasi is one of my favorite bands. Unfortunately I cant' make it down to Seattle early to get the wristband so I won't be going on Friday :(.

But you should go on Monday because it's going to be one of the last Carissa's Wierd shows (they are breaking up). Also, it's jam packed with excellence:

Black Heart Procession
New Pornographers
Pedro the Lion
Wilco
R.E.M.

No, I don't really know anyone from the K board but I know who you are talking about. I don't really post there too often. I was thinking of doing that Halloween Mt. Eerie show but Beulah is also playing a Halloween show in Vancouver BC (and it's their last tour) so I think I might head to that. 8/15 Blau? errgh, I wanna see that but I'll be seein' Ms. Neko Case instead. He played at the last Mt Eerie show in Seattle at the Vera Project but unfortunately I missed him because of the damn parade made parking hell. Did you go to that show?

When I am not working, I leave Bellingham ;). That's not exactly true. . . but I am often in Seatthole attending a show or visiting my homies there (or in PDX). You saw Karl Blau :( . . . I wanted to see him. But I saw Neko so I can't complain :).
