Hey folks,

I'm off travelling to Australia with my wife soon, and while I'm away with my guitar and lots of idle hours, I'd like to record some song ideas. I'm looking to buy a portable MiniDisc recorder and mic - anyone got any recommendations? I've heard Sharp units are good for this kind of thing, but as for mics I've got no idea at all.

Thanks!

Tim

i got a sony net md (an older out of print version ) off of ebay for a good price (under $200) as far as the mic goes i spent about $300 on a condenser mic and man it picks up a lot of hiss, i'm rather dissapointed with the mic so i can't help you out there
also be careful when choosing your minidisc because although some have inputs they don't record, really wierd. i would go with a net md, they seem to be the most popular

minidisc players play minidiscs
minidisc recorders play and record minidiscs

as far as mics go, i've heard great things about core sound. [http://www.core-sound.com/]

also, you might want to call up sound professionals [http://www.soundprofessionals.com/], and just explain your situation, they'll know just what you need.
