i wish....

I go to U of Toledo about 45 min south of U of M. I usually visit Ann Arbor at least twice a month tho, it's a great town. I love Wazoo's records!!! That's the only place where I can find e6 stuff around here.

How about you kylevh?

Could we move the san francisco date to April, thanks.

Either way, I'm just damn happy they are at least coming here.

i just found out that of montreal will be playing at suny purchase (my school!) in mid-april, most likely around the brooklyn show. purchase is located a little under an hour north of manhattan. i'll post the exact date as soon as i know. most importantly, the show will be free, as it's part of our annaul "culture shock" festival which runs for two or three days and features tons of bands.

i'm so excited. i keep thinking they're here to play for me.

Hey muddleforbrains
My girlfriend is applying for grad school at Purchase. The painting program. But neither of us know anything about the town or area except it is somewhat close to the city. Can you tell me anything? Size? Scenery? Locals? I'd be very appreciative.

CLEVELAND! YAY

hey there:

so, you'd like to know about purchase??? well, here's information based on my first few semesters here.

it's a land unto itself. i.e. there's no college town feel.

the cheapest place to live (off campus, in my experience) is port chester, an excellent working class town with an enormous brazillian community. the only problem is that there's a bit of that good old bad attitude from the people who see young liberals as a threat to their very existence.

on campus there's almost always a show going on, and in the past few months we've gotten "big" bands: rasputina, the gossip, rainer maria, atmosphere... but then again, nothing will compare for me the funfunfun of of montreal coming here.

the art program here is pretty great.

it's also relativly 40 minutes from manhattan, via the grand central terminal.

you two should come here in mid-april to check it out, and see a FREE of montreal show. maybe i'll even be nice enough to show you about.

hope this helps. any other questions you might want me to answer, just email me atterence.adams@purchase.edu (name@domain.com)

Hey thanks a lot. We actually might be heading out that way in late April to see a friend of ours and to visit my cousin in New York. If she gets accepted we just may take you up on your offer to show us around. Although i am hoping to be here in beautiful Wisconsin when Of Montreal comes around.

Ps A brazillian community huh, do ya hear Os Mutantes floating around the neighborhoods?

i think what nervesandgel is trying to say is that it's all relative to the sound a watermellon makes when it hits a large bird.

Lady..
I believe that I will be going to Minneapolis. A friend of mine has a grad show sometime around then so, we will see. I may end up seeing them in Chicago or somewhere along the way to Ohio.
A funny side note, I was able to get A Pollinair Rave to come to my school in Menomonie and Of Montreal contacted them to play there on this tour and some of the people that now booked shows said that Of Montreal would never play here again because Nina was smoking a cigar and that the rest of the show sucked!
So yeah if I'm around I guess I'll be headed to Minneapolis.
