This Is kind of a weird question bu ti was in Amalfi, Italy over the summer and i saw this tree/plant there(picture below) and i think it's cool looking does anyone know what kind of tree/plant it is?

If I showed that picture to my grandma I bet she could tell me in a second. But for practicality's sake, no, I have no idea.

pretty sure it's an >agave (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agave)<. the 'tree' is actually the flower stalk of the plant. around here they're called 'century plants' because they only bloom about every 80-100 years. most of italy has a very similar climate to here (san diego), so it makes sense they could grow there. the pictures in the wiki article aren't very convincing, but i'm 99% sure that's what that is.

It's an 'agave' (well, french name anyway), I confirm this. It was imported from america, surely some centuries ago, but they now grow under mediterranean climate too.
And what you shot is the flower. The plant looks like this :
