i know this is sooooo not e6 related, but...

what do you do with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old? their mother said no tv. she wants me to come up with activities for them.

help.

Organizing a baby-sitting schedule or activity 'set' for kids that ages is absurd, and you can tell their mother that. Be open with them, get an impression of what they enjoy doing, and do your best to set limits during what ensues. If you're lucky, the three-year old will get tired and take a nap, and the one-year old will almost certainly do that anyway.

1 year olds are really hard to babysit unless they're just really good kids... but still require constant attention. My advice is to get the 1 year old asleep as soon as possible and focus on the 3 year old. My baby brother is about that age and if he's any indication, you're in for an interesting nite.

ah, well, i've never taken care of 2 at once. what are their genders? that right there makes a big difference. i agree that organizing activities for them is overkill. the 3 year old should be read to a lot, picture books, although my daughter was already enjoying beatrix potter and a.a. milne at that age. the 1 year old can amuse him or herself with pulling everything out of the lower kitchen cabinets and chewing all of it. fun. glad you got the job!

just kidding, have lots of toys and stuffed animals and make up stories with them. you know, like have one little toy guy talking to another little toy guy and make shit up. it's really fun once you get into it. bring a few books, or they probably have some books they like, you can do a little storytime. puppets are nice. make farting noises and make fun of body sounds you can create. i have a one-year-old and she likes animal noises... a lot. and waving at anything. and some kids like to be tickled. i didn't. my big sisters used to tickle me until i peed on myself. i still resent them. be nice. have fun. prepare snacks.
good luck!

thanks everyone! the 1-year-old is a girl and the 3-year-old is a boy...i think. i know there is a boy and a girl. well, i will be watching them tomorrow morning from 8:30 to 12:30 so i don't think i can wish for too much napping. plus their mom is going to be around. this is trial day i guess. i hope i like it alright because it's my only option at the moment. i suppose i could sell myself on the street...buttttt i'd rather not.

Kirk's right - farting noises are a winner.

how precious. Next time just put plastic bags over their heads until they "fall asleep." I hear they have nicer dreams that way.

I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old - and from I have experiences those ages don't lend well to common activities.

good luck

I love leaflings. I babysit kids of all ages all the freaking time, just for fun. Not for the money or anything. In fact, I can't go more than two weeks without taking care of a child or baby. I go a little bit crazy if I have to. A few of my leaflings are coming over tomorrow to visit my mom who has cancer. I'm so excited to see them.

I apologize, I'm sorry for the drama; can I get yo autograph for my baby mama?

Feel free to contact her and tell her to give me back my blue E6 shirt. She confuses OTC with NMH.
