Hey guys/gals, I filmed this video a month ago on tour with Southerly (www.myspace.com/southerly (http://myspace.com/southerly)) from Portland. It was filmed on a $130 video camera, and edited using Windows Video Maker in about 30 minutes. I'm probably going to redo it, now that I know a little more about how the editor works, but I'd love to know what you (constructively) think of it! Mike

I feel like I might've enjoyed it if I knew the band well, but instead I Just thought it seemed like shaky stock footage of strangers set to a good song. A theme or any other sort of cohesion would have been cool, but I won't slag you too much because it seemed like this was the only video you had to work with.

Yeah, this was all just my personal video footage that I shot on the tour. I put it together more for the people on the tour than for anyone else. I gutess I didn't think abou it being rather boring for people who don't actually know the guys. The guy on the bike is Ryer Banta, who made the Little Wings/Microphones documentary, Wise Old Little Boy, as well as videos and documentaries for Akron/Family and the National. So, he will probably make something a little better out of his footage...hopefully.

See, just that brief description made me appreciate the video ten times more. Maybe you could work in a bit of Bio into the vid without being distracting? Like pause on someone in a sweet position like the dude on the tank and be all "bill, 24, aries, family man, *witty comment*" or something. It'd be a more inclusive experience for the viewer and a great intro to the band.

Thats not a bad idea... Thanks for the comments! Here is a second version I did that added in a little extra footage, quicker cuts, and some live stuff. Don't know if the flow is all that great, though. Im learning the limitations of Video Maker. If you like the band, you should check them out: www.myspace.com/southerly (http://www.myspace.com/southerly) or buy one of their records (shameless plug), I've got four vinyl releases for them at www.piaptk.com (http://www.www.piaptk.com)

I think I kind of wanted to put together a video that showed how ridiculously much fun that tour was, and how amazing all of those guys are.
