Neil Young has one of the most expressive voices in music. There's not a line on "After the Gold Rush" that doesn't hit you like a punch in the emotions. Also, he's a ridiculously awesome guitarist. The solo on "Down by the River" is one of my favorite things ever.

neil young's guitar solos consist of him wailing the same note with a whammy bar for 10-30 seconds.

yeah, really he should be shredding and finger tapping like eddie van halen, that would suit his country rock much better.

I love me some Neil Young. After the Gold Rush, Everybody Knows this is Nowhere... Harvest is a classic... and his new stuff is good too. He is a better guitarist than he is given credit for. And yes, a very expressive singer. And a great songwriter. He's just all around great. Although kind of ugly. And looks count for everything. So really he sucks.

His voice is very influential - Grandaddy, Midlake... lots of bands sound like the mighty Neil.

true, true. and martsch and masics are influenced by his guitar-playing as well.

Live at Massey Hall and that other live one from the Neil Young archives (Live at the Fillmore East?) are great.

He has a lot of great stuff. Weld rules.

J. Mascis definitely sounds like Neil Young sometimes.

And if you don't like Neil Young, you can bite my dick. Really hard.

On further thought, please don't do that.
