Default Recommendations for a new Elf Power fan?

I never really got into Elf Power, but this band seems pretty cool from what I've heard so far. If anyone has any recommended albums or songs, please tell me. They've got a pretty decent mountain of stuff to cover.

I'm also interested. I heard Red King a long time ago but forget it now.

if you count red king as their first album, then my favorite albums are their first four in order:

      1. red king
      2. dream in sound
      3. winter is coming
      4. creatures

vainly clutching is really cool too. after creatures, it gets a little samey. back to the web is pretty awesome and i bet sounds really cool live. the others are all solid, but don't really stand out. i don't think anything they did after creatures really touched their early work. then again, the early albums are nostalgic for me. it'd be interesting to see if a new fan, who doesn't hold the early albums in such high regard like i do, would like the new albums more than me.

ah, i guess i have to mention in a cave. i thought that was a pretty cool album. the opening song, owl cut (white flowers in the sky) (?), is very, very cool. pretty sure eric harris was involved in that album (and very involved in that song). also major help from john fernandes on back to the web (and probably many others, but his contributions are standouts on this one), which is always a good thing.

How do you feel about the self-titled?

i think it's probably my least favorite. i remember really liking the first few songs and then the rest were a little boring to my ears. i thought it would've made a good ep with the top five or six songs.

man, i don't think i gave enough love to vainly clutching at phantom limbs though. just that classic raw, sloppy goodness you expect from early e6. if that's your thing then maybe you should start with that one.

Sounds like starting at the start is a good bet.

Start with When the Red King Comes, it's definitely their best, follow it with Back to the Web, then the self-titled.

Self titled is awesome. Derek Almstead's contributions really shine on that album for me.
