What does everyone think of it? I've only heard Backward Masks, should I invest in the old stuff?

Summer Hymns are so dispicably underrated. Buy all of their records in chronilogical order. I've only heard two new songs from Backwards Mask, and they seem pretty great.

I think it's a natural evolution for Summer Hymns from their last. Personally, I think it's their best album...just one great song after another.

I think this album is more accessible than their early psychedlic stuff and less southern than the last two records -- an amalgamation of both, perhaps? Then distilled so as to attract (and if not attract, then at least appeal to) a larger audience. I don't think there's an obvious single. There isn't an overall theme. It's a solid collection of songs - a very nice album that may get lost when folks write the Best of '06 lists because of the late Novemburr release date, as most lists are written by then.

it's not immediate. it only hit me when I was playing it over some house chores, and then I was like...woooosh. It's subtle, but real kind.
