Anyone heard the new album by Grizzly Bear? It's really good, and there's a track on there called 'Plans' that really reminds me of Circulatory System, and 'Now' in particular.

I'm excited about the new album all over again, even though it's been pushed back yet again, this time to 2007.

Great call.

This "Plans" track sounds a bit too similar to Circ System -- verging on plaigiarism and by-the-book psychedelic engineering.

However, there are differences -- this track has a more joyous and cacophonic feel than Circ System, and the vocals go higher in the registers than the sort-of "samey" sound found on the Circ System album. Also, the general eerieness feels a bit more "manufactured" and built-upon than the organic / natural feel of Circ System.

Other similar bands to try:

The Polyphonic Spree
Creeper Lagoon (later stuff)
Animal Collective (earlier stuff)

If you listen to the "Remember the Future" EP by Creeper... it's more indicative

I don't think early Animal Collective sounds like The Circulatory System at all... The later stuff, if anything.

But yeah, Grizzly Bear is amazing stuff.
