Summer Hymns tour, ready new EP
===========================================

Summer Hymns are preparing to leave for a trip around the country. Watch
out Orlando, Denton, Denver, Seattle, Chicago and all points between as
Summer Hymns are packing their van and bringing the craziest live show in
rock music to your town. Be sure not to miss the show everyone will be
talking about for years to come.

The Summer Hymns have also wrapped up their newest EP - titled "Value
Series Vol 1: Fools Gold". At 10 songs and a hair under 30 minutes it is
indeed a killer value. We are not sure if or when Vol. 2 will appear, but
Vol. 1 does a fine job of documenting the Hymns' rapid output. With more
experimentation than anything that appears on "Clemency," these new
recordings are wonderfully strange--their rendition of Johnny "Guitar"
Watson's "It Takes Two," for instance, is a jaw-dropper--and eight
originals (plus a heartfelt George Harrison cover) this EP will be
officially released in February. The Summer Hymns will have pre-sale
copies at shows as soon as we get it pressed.

I think Portland was a tough spot for this tour because normally bands would play at the Blackbird, but it is now closed.

Hopefully people will know about the show since it is in a weird place - please spread the word!

its sad about the blackbird but its great for me. im 17 and it pissed me off all the good shows were 21+. hooray for others misfortune!

man i was hoping they'd have it in austin. anyway, it was a swell show. i particularly enjoyed the neil young cover, tonight's the night, and the 'death tribute' song, especially the ring of fire parts.

The new EP will be available for mail order before Feb. We want to make sure the hymns the first crack at selling them. We'll put it on the misra site soon after they return

As for a live show recording - if you go to this site:

http://asucd.ucdavis.edu/radio/schedule.cfm?filter=Mabel

and fast forward to about one hour into the radio show you can hear a summer hymns set on the radio. When i checked it the real audio was working, but not MP3.

Also, on Monday they play on KEXP (www.kexp.org) at noon (Pacific time) - listen online. KEXP also archives these live shows so if you miss it you can listen in later.
