Just curious, what exactly is Summer Hymns' connection to the E6? Saw SH last night, and enjoyed it greatly, but it reminded me that I've never understood how they're related. . .

I always remembered them being on the Elephant 6 site. The way they are related to E6 at least is through Derek and Dottie, who have worked with Of Montreal.

Aha, thanks! Now looking at allmusic.com I see that Dottie's on their first album, and Dottie, Derek and Pete Erchick on the second.

It's all making sense now.

Okay, that's good to know.

I realize that.

First, the Elephant 6 site is reasonably accurate but it isn't an official listing of all things E6. Second, is it possible that it used to be on there, sometime within the past year?

I'm not really sure why you had to post a screenshot of the E6 site. I know they're not on there. Were they ever at some point?

Looks like they are on this part of the site. I'd say they're at least as much an E6 connection as Calvin, Don't Jump

Summer Hymns used to be on the E6 bands web page, but I believe Kelly trimmed the listings a bit a while back. I could be mistaken, but that's how I remember it.

Calvin, Don't Jump is related to E6 because J. Kirk Pleasant has played on some E6 albums, like Black Foliage. He also co-wrote "Are You Underwater" on the Gerbils' 2nd album. But didn't he move to Canada? (Or was planning to...)

Well, Casper plays in BP Helium's band on his album. I can't think of other connections off hand, but I'm sure there are.

hey sloan, i was on that first record too. in fact, it was always a bone of contention between me and dottie who was in the band first. i'm pretty sure it was me, we played a show as golgi apparatus (until we found out it was a phish song!) before we were summer hymns, and i'm pretty sure she wasn't onstage...
