I think that Jeff played drums on the record, but don't usually follow on the tours... but someone else probably knows this better than me :)

I think they just grab whoever they can to play drums. It was Jeff on one tour, but it was someone else this past tour.

Jeff Mangum was the drummer for Olivia Tremor Control on their earliest stuff, so I hope he is their main drummer. Has anyone seen them play live to know for sure?

yeah, they've used jeff, derek from of montreal, and the dude from summer hymns for their second drummer. hannah remains a constant in the band as a drummer.

I believe Jeff played guitar in OTC, but 6 of one. He's only on the 1st single I believe.

He played drums on Circulatory System's 1st tour. Since then they've had Derrik from Of Montreal and the guy from the Summer Hymns.

Oh yeah, Hannah Jones also plays drums for the Circulatory System.

The album's got a crapload of people on it. I think Will and maybe John are the only people who appear on every track. Jeff's definitely on it, but you'd have to have a mighty sophisticated ear to say this person is playing this instrument. I think I can hear Jeff's voice on the last song if I listen to it with headphones.

It's one of my favorite albums. You definitely need it. But don't buy it thinking it's a "Jeff Mangum release."

bedbug--

Jeff played drums, not guitar. He was on the first EP and other various songs until '93.

bedbug - you can definitely hear Jeff singing on 'how long?'. Those backing vocals are distinctively him.

Okay, true. That definitely is him. That might be the scariest moment of the album!

Or maybe the "we just want to fly" part on song #4

I find 'now' one of the downright eeriest songs - it has loads of reverby space in it compared to the others. And some of the interpretations on 'Inside Views' that introduce a lot of space have the same effect on me, such as 'a peek'.
