I also really like pitchfork's review. Especially the end. It really made me smile.

"Then again, you never know-- the E6 logo has been showing up on more than a few record covers these days, and one of the most exciting effects of the original Golden Age was that it begat a Renaissance."

Pitchfork rocks, amirite guys.

I felt the P4K review was far too shallow, talking too much about Will and too little about the actual music on the record. And the nearly entirely positive written review seemed mismatched with the numerical rating, which should have been a full point higher. Lame.

Central NC's Independent Weekly's music feature article this week (to align with the show here next Monday!): http://www.indyweek.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid:400775

It's not a 100% perfect article, but I think it's an excellent on the whole--3 full pages, and yes ALL of the pictures made it into the print edition, including the two paintings getting about half a page. Pretty awesome!

Yeah, it has it's own space here, but just to collect all the links in one thread, here's the NPR first listen: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=112060124

yeah that's true. They should've kept the story and reviewed more about the music.

I assume you guys have read a pitchfork review or two in the past, right? And yet you still expect them to actually review the music? ;)

ah, 8.1 so close to getting that "Best New Music" tag that seems to sell tons of records on its own just by having p4k tag it as such.

BNM is inconsistent and makes no sense. Mos Def gets and 8.0: best new music. Wavves gets 8.1: Best New Music.

Polvo gets 8.1: not best new music. Circulatory gets 8.1: not best new music.

Don't look to the 'fork for internal consistency.

I thought it was a good review and the mark given, if I was forced to do such a futile thing, would have been the same. I think its an awesome album, but not quite as awesome as the debut. With that said, it took a long while for me to completely appreciate the debut.

whatever. i'm gonna jerk off in the janitor's closet

inconsistent it may be, BNM definitely helps albums in being heard or sold. i've never been a fan of how they go about reviewing things. they do, however, provide news and tour updates of bands i listen to, so that's nice.

i also hope one day they stop sucking radiohead's dick.

basically same this what geneautry said. i don't give a damn about best new music, but a lot of people do. just the label of BNM sells tons of records/makes a lot of people check it out that would not bother to do so.

Mount Eerie gets 8.2...nothing.

I've come to the realization that, with the exceptions of bands I've never heard of (and even then), reviews are pretty much meaningless to my life.

"That's Signal Morning's greatest strength: It's a supremely busy record that at the same time doesn't sound fussed over."

well said.

wow, great articles, i'm getting so pumped for this tour and the vinyl coming out (and nesey's album on vinyl too)

oh well, 8.1 isn't that bad... and the actual review makes it sound like a 10.

That review was balls, really. Here's a bunch of information about multiple sclerosis, and a sentence that generalizes about the entire album. Oh and here's a number too, just in case you were looking forward to seeing one of those. While you're here buy some deluxe Radiohead CDs.

I think we should write our own E6 Townhall review, with each person contributing the next sentence. :)
