I love going to Dressy Bessy shows!

Too bad they're playing the crappy Clear Channel club in my city. I hate going there, but I'll make an exception in their case...

why is it that a great band like DB doesnt get any posts in the townhall?????

09-02-2004, 09:27 AM
Not to ne negative, but isn't the Dressy Bessy sound well covered in the Apples songs sung by Hilarie. I'm waiting to be proven wrong about DB, or perhaps Yellow Moon Pink Stars is not their best album and I haven't heard the good stuff.
They look like a great band :o

they are a great band.

great implies having greatness...are you sure they are great? :P

I agree that some of their earlier stuff sounds a little Apples in Stereo, but the S/T one is great..

I love Sound Go Round as well...

I actually don't think they sound very much like Apples--other than that they're both pop/rock bands..

i dont really think they aound like the apples, i love pink hearts...its by far my favorite, am i alone here when i say i didnt like the new cd other than tidy and new song from me to you, maybe blink twice??????

Pink Hearts Yellow Moons is also my favorite album. Tammy's vocals on that record are f'ing amazing.

I do quite like the new one too though--it's probably my second favorite full-length. With Sound Go Round, I think the first half of that record (the first 7 songs) is the best side Dressy Bessy has EVER done--culminating in one of my absolute favorite songs by them ( "Buttercups" ). But the second side isn't as strong as the first. still a great record though.

Funny enough, my favorite overall release from them is the singles/EP/rarities collection Little Music. Just unbelievable from start to finish.

funny how different my opinion is: I don't like Sound go round that much, but their first album is really great. But nothing compared to the masterpiece "Dressy Bessy". The only song I don't like too much on that one is Tidy. And the song I like most must be the first one on there, song of the year 2003!

I think there are some songs on Little Music that sound very Apples-In-Stereo-ey (new word!). Its not a bad thing.. If I could think of the name of that song that comes to mind, I would tell you, but, alas, I am experiencing the ever debilitating brain fart.
